A 16-inch laptop with a 120Hz screen, a current-gen Intel chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD for under $400 is a rare sight. This certified refurbished Acer Aspire 16 hits that mark, and it's worth a closer look if you need a big-screen machine for everyday work and media.
Why This Acer Aspire 16 Stands Out
Most budget laptops cut corners on the display or the processor. This Aspire 16 doesn't. The 16-inch FHD panel runs at 120Hz, which makes scrolling and casual gaming feel noticeably smoother than the usual 60Hz screens in this price range.
Under the hood, you get Intel's Core Ultra 5 226V. That's a current-generation chip built for efficiency and decent everyday performance. Paired with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, this isn't a machine that'll feel sluggish opening apps or juggling browser tabs.
- 16-inch FHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate
- Intel Core Ultra 5 226V processor
- 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD
- Certified refurbished condition
- 50% off the usual price
What You Can Actually Do With It
This isn't a gaming rig or a video editing workstation. But for students, office workers, or anyone who wants a large screen for streaming and productivity, it's more than capable. The Core Ultra 5 handles spreadsheets, documents, video calls, and web apps without breaking a sweat.
The 120Hz screen is a nice bonus for light gaming—think indie titles or older games at lower settings. And the 1TB SSD gives you plenty of room for files, photos, and a few installed games without worrying about space.
- Great for everyday productivity and media consumption
- Smooth 120Hz display for casual gaming and scrolling
- Plenty of storage for files and apps
- Not suited for heavy gaming or professional video editing
Is This a Good Deal?
At $394.60, you're paying less than half of what this configuration typically costs new. Even compared to other refurbished units, this is a standout price. The Core Ultra 5 226V is still relatively new, so finding it in a sub-$400 laptop is uncommon.
Certified refurbished means it's been inspected, tested, and restored to working condition, usually with a warranty. That said, always check the seller's return policy and warranty terms before buying. eBay's refurbished program often includes a 1-year warranty, but it's worth confirming.
- 50% off the original price
- Rare to see a Core Ultra 5 laptop this cheap
- Certified refurbished includes a warranty (verify with seller)
- Check return policy before purchasing
Bottom Line
- 16-inch 120Hz display, Core Ultra 5 226V, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD for $394.60
- 50% off makes this a strong value for a current-gen laptop
- Certified refurbished with potential warranty—confirm details with seller
- Ideal for productivity, media, and light gaming, not heavy workloads
Common Questions
Is this laptop good for gaming?
It's fine for casual and older games, especially with the 120Hz screen, but it lacks a dedicated GPU, so modern AAA titles will struggle.
What does certified refurbished mean?
It means the laptop was inspected, tested, and restored to working condition by the manufacturer or a certified partner. It usually comes with a warranty, but you should verify the terms with the seller.
Can I upgrade the RAM or storage later?
Many Acer Aspire models have limited upgrade options. Check the specific model's specs before buying if you plan to upgrade.
