ASUS ROG Strix G18 with RTX 5070 Drops to $1,849 at Walmart

If you're in the market for a desktop replacement that can handle just about anything, Walmart's latest deal on the ASUS ROG Strix G18 is worth a look. At $1,849, you're saving $850 off the usual price, and the specs are seriously beefy: a Ryzen 9 9955HX, RTX 5070 graphics, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Plus, that 18-inch 240Hz display is a treat for gamers and creators alike.

What You're Getting for $1,849

The ROG Strix G18 is a beast of a machine, and this configuration doesn't skimp. The AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX is one of the top mobile CPUs you can get right now, paired with NVIDIA's RTX 5070 GPU. That combo should chew through modern games at high settings and handle content creation tasks without breaking a sweat.

The 18-inch display is a standout: WQXGA resolution (2560x1600), a 240Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness. That means smooth visuals, sharp details, and enough brightness to use it in well-lit rooms. Plus, with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, you've got plenty of memory for multitasking and storage for a decent game library.

• AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics
• 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD
• 18-inch WQXGA 240Hz display, 500 nits

Is This a Good Deal?

At $1,849, this is a solid discount. High-end gaming laptops with these specs often hover around $2,000 or more, so saving $850 is nothing to sneeze at. The RTX 5070 is a current-gen GPU, and the Ryzen 9 9955HX is near the top of AMD's mobile lineup, so you're getting cutting-edge hardware.

Historically, we've seen similar configurations drop to around this price during major sales events, but it's not a common occurrence. If you need a powerful laptop now, this is a competitive price. Just keep in mind that new models come out regularly, so if you can wait, there might be even better deals later—but you'll always be chasing the next best thing.

• Save $850 off the regular price
• Competitive for an RTX 5070 laptop with 32GB RAM
• Rarely drops this low outside of major sales

Who Should Buy This?

This laptop is ideal for gamers who want a large screen and high refresh rate without sacrificing portability too much—though at 18 inches, it's more of a desktop replacement than a daily carry. It's also great for creators who need strong CPU and GPU performance for video editing, 3D rendering, or streaming.

If you're a student or professional who needs a powerful machine for both work and play, this could fit the bill. Just be aware that battery life on high-end gaming laptops is typically mediocre, so you'll want to keep the charger handy.

• Gamers wanting a big, fast display
• Content creators needing CPU/GPU muscle
• Users looking for a desktop replacement
