Apple's 2026 MacBook Air 15-inch with M5 Drops to $1,299 on Amazon

Apple's latest 15-inch MacBook Air just got a nice price cut on Amazon. The 2026 model with the M5 chip is down to $1,299, which is 13% off its usual price. If you've been eyeing a larger MacBook Air for school, work, or just everyday use, this is a solid opportunity to save some cash. The Sky Blue finish is a nice bonus, too.

What you're getting with the M5 MacBook Air

The 2026 MacBook Air is a pretty significant refresh. The M5 chip brings a 10-core CPU, which Apple says delivers faster performance and better multitasking than before. There's also a next-gen GPU with Neural Accelerators, making it more capable for AI tasks and creative work. For most people, this means snappier app switching, smoother video editing, and better overall responsiveness.

The 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display remains one of the best screens you'll find on a laptop in this price range. It supports 1 billion colors, so photos and videos look vibrant, and text stays crisp. Whether you're working on spreadsheets or streaming movies, it's a pleasure to look at.

• M5 chip with 10-core CPU and next-gen GPU for AI
• 16GB unified memory and 512GB SSD — a sweet spot for most users
• 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display with 1 billion colors
• Up to 18 hours of battery life, so you can leave the charger at home
• 12MP Center Stage camera, three-mic array, and six-speaker system with Spatial Audio
• Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for future-proof wireless connectivity
• Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe charging, and a headphone jack
• Supports up to two external displays

Is $1,299 a good price?

For a brand-new 15-inch MacBook Air with these specs, $1,299 is a solid deal. The M5 chip is still fresh, and this configuration with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD typically sells for closer to $1,499. A 13% discount this early in the product cycle isn't something you see every day, especially on Amazon where stock can fluctuate.

Historically, MacBook Air discounts tend to hover around 10% off for newer models. This one edges slightly higher, making it a good buy if you need a larger-screen MacBook now. If you can wait, there's always a chance of a deeper discount during major sales events, but you risk missing out on this specific color and configuration.

• 13% off the usual price — better than typical early discounts
• 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD are ideal for future-proofing
• Sky Blue is a popular color that sometimes sells out faster

Who should consider this MacBook Air?

This laptop is a great fit for students, professionals, and anyone who wants a big-screen Mac without stepping up to the MacBook Pro. The 15-inch display gives you more room for multitasking, and the M5 chip handles everything from document editing to light video work with ease. The 16GB of memory means you can keep plenty of browser tabs and apps open without slowdowns.

If you're a creative professional doing heavy 3D rendering or 8K video editing, you might want to look at the MacBook Pro for its active cooling and higher-end chips. But for the vast majority of users, this Air strikes an excellent balance of performance, portability, and price.

• Students: great for research, writing, and online classes
• Office workers: plenty of power for spreadsheets, presentations, and video calls
• Casual creatives: handles photo editing and light video editing smoothly
• Anyone who wants a large-screen Mac without the Pro price tag
