Microsoft Surface Laptop 2024 Hits $1,084: A Snapdragon X Plus Steal?

If you've been eyeing a sleek, AI-ready laptop without the premium price tag, this deal on the Microsoft Surface Laptop (2024) might be worth a look. Amazon has it for $1,084.46, which is 28% off the usual price. That gets you a 13.8-inch touchscreen, a Snapdragon X Plus processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD in Platinum. It's a Copilot+ PC, so it's built with AI features in mind. Let's break down whether this is a good buy.

What You're Getting for $1,084

The Surface Laptop 2024 is Microsoft's mainstream offering, and this configuration sits in the sweet spot for most people. The Snapdragon X Plus chip with 10 cores is designed for efficiency and everyday performance—think web browsing, office work, light photo editing, and AI-assisted tasks thanks to the dedicated NPU. With 16GB of RAM, you can keep plenty of tabs and apps open without slowdowns, and the 512GB SSD offers decent space for files and programs.

The 13.8-inch touchscreen is a nice size—portable enough to carry around but still comfortable for productivity. And since it's a Copilot+ PC, you get access to Windows 11's AI features like Recall (when available) and live captions. The Platinum color gives it a clean, professional look.

• Snapdragon X Plus (10-core) processor with integrated AI engine
• 16GB RAM for smooth multitasking
• 512GB SSD for fast storage and boot times
• 13.8-inch touchscreen display
• Windows 11 Home with Copilot+ AI features
• Sleek Platinum finish

Is This a Good Deal?

At $1,084.46, this is one of the better prices we've seen for this specific Surface Laptop configuration. The list price is around $1,500, so you're saving roughly $415. That's a significant chunk of change. For comparison, similar Snapdragon X Plus laptops from other brands often hover around $1,000–$1,200, so this is competitive, especially considering the Surface's premium build quality and touchscreen.

Historically, Surface Laptops don't get deep discounts very often, and when they do, they tend to sell out quickly. If you're in the market for a portable Windows laptop with solid battery life and AI capabilities, this is a strong contender.

• 28% off the typical price
• Rare discount for a current-gen Surface Laptop
• Competitive with other Snapdragon X Plus laptops

Who Should Buy This?

This laptop is ideal for students, professionals, and anyone who needs a reliable everyday machine. The Snapdragon X Plus is more than capable for productivity tasks, streaming, and video calls. It's also a great option if you want to dip your toes into AI features without spending a fortune.

However, if you're a gamer or rely on heavy Windows applications that require x86 architecture, you might want to look elsewhere. While emulation has improved, some apps still don't run natively on ARM. But for the majority of users, this Surface Laptop will handle everything smoothly.

• Great for students and office workers
• Ideal for AI-curious users
• Not recommended for gaming or specialized x86 software
