If you've been eyeing a premium 2-in-1 that can handle both work and play, the Microsoft Surface Pro (2024) just got a lot more tempting. Amazon is currently selling the Snapdragon X Elite model with 16GB RAM and a 256GB SSD for $999.99 — that's 23% off the usual price. It's an Amazon Exclusive in black, and it packs a gorgeous 13-inch OLED touchscreen. Let's break down whether this deal is worth your attention.
What You're Getting for $999.99
The Surface Pro (2024) is Microsoft's latest flagship tablet that doubles as a laptop when you attach a keyboard (sold separately). This particular configuration is an Amazon Exclusive, meaning you won't find this exact black model with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage at other retailers.
Under the hood, it's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite chip with 12 cores. That's the same class of processor found in many premium Windows laptops this year, and it's designed to deliver strong performance along with impressive battery life. The 16GB of RAM is a sweet spot for multitasking, and the 256GB SSD should be enough for everyday apps and documents, though heavy media hoarders might want more space.
The Display Steals the Show
The 13-inch OLED touchscreen is arguably the best feature here. OLED panels offer perfect blacks, vibrant colors, and excellent contrast, making everything from spreadsheets to streaming video look fantastic. Whether you're editing photos or just browsing, the display is a joy to use.
And since it's a Copilot+ PC, you get access to Windows 11's AI-powered features like Recall, Cocreator, and live captions. These are still evolving, but they add a bit of future-proofing to the device.
Is This a Good Deal?
At $999.99, this is one of the lowest prices we've seen for a Snapdragon X Elite Surface Pro with 16GB RAM. The 23% discount brings it down from around $1,300, which is a significant savings. For comparison, the same model with 512GB storage often sells for $1,200 or more.
Keep in mind that the keyboard and stylus are not included, so you'll need to budget for those if you want the full laptop experience. Still, even with those extras, you're getting a powerful, ultraportable 2-in-1 for a very competitive price.
Who Should Buy This?
This Surface Pro is ideal for students, professionals, and anyone who needs a versatile device that works as both a tablet and a laptop. The Snapdragon X Elite chip handles everyday tasks with ease, and the OLED screen makes it great for media consumption. If you're a gamer, though, you might want to look elsewhere — the Adreno GPU is fine for casual games but not for demanding titles.
- Students who need a portable note-taking and research machine
- Professionals who want a lightweight laptop for office work
- Creatives who value a high-quality display for photo editing
- Anyone looking for a future-proof Copilot+ PC
