MSI Cyborg 17 with RTX 5060 Drops to $1,189 — A Solid 1080p Gaming Laptop Deal

If you're hunting for a big-screen gaming laptop that won't wreck your budget, the MSI Cyborg 17 just hit a price that's worth a look. It's down to $1,189 on Amazon after a 15% discount, and for that money you're getting some genuinely modern hardware — including Nvidia's RTX 5060. Let's break down whether this is the right machine for you.

What you're getting for $1,189

The Cyborg 17 packs an Intel Core 7-240H processor and an RTX 5060 GPU — that's a combo built for 1080p gaming at high settings. The 17.3-inch screen runs at 144Hz, so fast-paced shooters and esports titles will feel smooth. You also get 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD, which is plenty for a healthy game library and everyday multitasking.

MSI kept it relatively portable for a 17-incher: it's 0.83 inches thick and weighs 5.5 pounds. That's not ultrabook territory, but it's manageable if you need to move between rooms or take it to a friend's place occasionally.

Is this a good price?

For an RTX 5060 laptop with a 17-inch 144Hz display, $1,189 is competitive. Most RTX 5060 machines we've seen hover around $1,200–$1,300, so this deal shaves a bit off the typical going rate. It's not a once-in-a-year blowout, but it's a solid discount on current-gen hardware.

Keep in mind that laptop prices fluctuate, especially around sales events. If you need a machine now and this fits your budget, it's a reasonable buy. If you can wait, there's always a chance of a deeper cut later — but you might also risk it selling out.

Who should consider it

This laptop makes the most sense for someone who wants a desktop replacement that can handle 1080p gaming, light content creation, and everyday work. The 144Hz screen is a nice bonus for competitive games, and the RTX 5060 supports DLSS 4 and ray tracing, so you're covered for modern titles.

If you're a student or someone who needs a big screen for productivity and occasional gaming, the Cyborg 17 fits that bill without breaking the bank. Just be aware that battery life on gaming laptops like this is rarely impressive — you'll want to keep it plugged in for serious sessions.
