If you're in the market for a gaming laptop that won't break the bank, Walmart just slashed the price of the MSI Cyborg by $800. That brings it down to $1,299, which is pretty aggressive for a machine with an RTX 5070 and a Ryzen 7. Let's break down whether it's worth your money.
What You're Getting for $1,299
The MSI Cyborg is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop with a 144Hz FHD display. That refresh rate is a sweet spot for competitive games, and the resolution keeps things sharp without demanding too much from the GPU.
Under the hood, you've got an AMD Ryzen 7 260 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070. That's a solid combo for 1080p gaming — you should be able to run most modern titles at high settings and still hit high frame rates. The 16GB of RAM is enough for gaming and everyday multitasking, and the 1TB SSD gives you plenty of space for a decent library of games.
- 15.6" FHD 144Hz display
- AMD Ryzen 7 260 CPU
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU
- 16GB RAM
- 1TB SSD
Is This a Good Deal?
At $1,299, this is $800 off the usual price. For a laptop with an RTX 5070, that's a pretty compelling price point. Gaming laptops with next-gen GPUs tend to carry a premium, so seeing one under $1,300 is noteworthy.
That said, you'll want to keep an eye on the build quality and cooling. The Cyborg series is more budget-oriented, so it might not have the premium feel of higher-end models. But if you're after raw performance per dollar, this is hard to beat right now.
Who Should Buy This?
This laptop is a great fit for gamers who want strong 1080p performance without spending $2,000. It's also a solid choice for students or professionals who need a capable machine for both work and play.
If you're looking for a 1440p or 4K gaming machine, you might want to look elsewhere — the RTX 5070 is more of a 1080p powerhouse. But for the price, it's an excellent value.
Bottom Line
- $1,299 for an RTX 5070 laptop is a strong value.
- 144Hz FHD display is ideal for competitive gaming.
- 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD provide a good balance for most users.
- Check for potential cooling and build quality limitations.
